All About Potassium, Protein and Calories

Our bodies need calories so they can provide energy inside the body and make all our parts function they way they are supposed to.  The amount of calories that is in a particular food will depend on how much energy that certain food gives you.  When it comes to figuring out how many calories that our body needs, this is determined by your gender, the amount of exercise that you do each day, how old you are, how tall you are and how much you currently weigh.  If you take in more calories than you burn off through exercising, then you will most likely be overweight.  But trying different things to your diet may help you lose the weight.

The jobs of potassium are to help our bodies keep the fluids balanced as they should be and maintaining the function of heart muscles. Helping muscles work properly and assisting the proper function or nerve impulses.  The best sources for potassium come from foods such as oranges, bananas, mushrooms, peanuts, dates, broccoli, milk, spinach, watermelon and potatoes, to name a few.  Not only are these potassium rich foods but they are low in calories as well.  For example, there are about 107 calories in banana and bananas are potassium packed.

Many of us do not eat enough protein in our diets.  So my creating protein shake recipes, you are adding to the amount of protein that your body already has.  This will make you feel much healthier since you have the correct levels of protein in your body.  On the same topic of beverages, it you enjoy having alcohol at night or weekends, you know that alcoholic is high in calories.  But not all alcohol is full of calories.  White wines are lower in calories than red wines.  Drink light beer instead of regular for fewer calories.
